A new $9.9 million wing is coming to Dublin's Veterans Administration hospital, according to U.S. Rep. Jim Marshall.
The congressman traveled to Dublin Tuesday afternoon to announce that a military construction appropriations bill now before Congress contains money to design and build the addition to the Dublin hospital.
Spokesman Doug Moore said the bill passed the House but isn't expected to clear House-Senate conference committees until September. He said Marshall expects the popular and non-controversial project to survive the budget process.
The money will be used to build a nursing home and community center wing -- the hospital's third wing.
Moore said it would probably take about six months to release the money to the VA and award construction contracts on the project.
Later Tuesday, Marshall planned a meeting with officials of Dublin's Fairview Park Hospital to discuss health-care legislation.
