Some Central Georgians got a chance to chow down with the governor Saturday at his 6th annual fish fry.
Republican candidates for state offices--including governor--set up booths at the event and introduced themselves to people.
The governor told the audience that the fish fry is a chance for people to get to know the candidates and where they stand on key issues.
Some of the GOP candidates for governor say they plan to focus on jobs and health care if they get elected.
Insurance and Safety Comissioner John Oxendine said, "When you look at all the different issues facing us, its one, its jobs, its the economy, that what's important."
State legislator Nathan Deal said the health care system is a big item on his agenda. "The medicaid program that we provide in combination with Federal and State funds, still is one of the largest parts of our state budget, so getting a health care system that is workable, effective and efficient."
Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel is focusing on job creation. "Well first and foremost is creating jobs, and in order to create jobs, we need a 21st Economic development program that refocuses on small business."
Nearly a dozen candidates took part in the event.
