The Indigo Girls! Carrie Preston! Theatre premieres! A HUGE free concert! A scavenger hunt for the college crowd! Central Georgia, your weekend entertainment knows no limit...
We're kicking things off at Theatre Macon with the premiere of On Golden Pond. "I thought this was the perfect opener to our 24th season," says director Jim Crisp.
Lee Kingery-Clark and Ken Clark are spectacular as Ethel and Norman Thayer. In the play, the Thayer's are an older couple who spend their summers in a quiet cabin on Golden Pond. During this year's stay, a visit from their daughter creates a little excitement.
From Norman's obsession with mortality to his difficult relationship with their daughter, Ethel has her hands full. Of the characters, Crisp says, "Everyone knows these people. They're your parents, your aunt and uncle, or they're you!"
"It's a very funny play with a very big heart!"
Catch the premiere of On Golden Pond this Friday at 8:00 p.m. The show runs through Sept. 19. For reservations, call (478) 746-9485.
At the Warner Robins Little Theatre, Miss Daisy is spicing things up!
When Boolie, Miss Daisy's son, insists on hiring a chauffeur for her, she doesn't want any part of it. "The older Daisy gets, it seems she's more dependent on other people for support," explains director Jo Gaskin, "and she resists this as most of us do."
Boolie hires Hoke, an older gentleman, and neither Hoke nor Miss Daisy are too fond of the situation. But soon, they both realize that having to depend on somebody isn't all that bad.
Driving Miss Daisy also premieres Friday at 8:00 p.m. and will run through Sept. 26. Call the box office at (478) 929-4579 for tickets.
And speaking of tickets, the highly anticipated Indigo Girls concert is happening Saturday night at the Cox Capitol Theatre. However, no tickets are available, as general admission is SOLD OUT! For information on the availability of table seating, call the Big House Foundation at (478) 972-1598.
