Bestselling author Nicholas Sparks took time to meet fans and sign books at the Sam's Club in Macon.

More than 600 fans filled the aisles and snatched up more than half of the 1,200 copies of Sparks' latest novel "The Last Song."

Sparks has penned several books turned movies like "A Walk to Remember," "The Notebook," and "Nights at Rodanthe."
Store manager Vondetta Rains says the first fan arrived around 7 Saturday morning. Sparks started signing books around noon.

Many fans say they have to wait about two hours to meet their favorite author, but they'd do it all over again.

"It was really cool I was really nervous though I didn't know what to say, but he was really very sweet," said Cheryl Meeks. She says she already more than half way done with the new book. The store allowed people to bring in copies of the book they already purchased.

Sparks only signed copies of his new book, he didn't sign personal messages for fans either. Still fans say just to meet him made a great experience.

"Just the feeling he puts behind everything, everything seems so sincere relationship is so important and i dunno I think it gives some hope in a time when you wonder about love and how people feel about each other," said Lynne Pennamon.

This is the first book signing at Macon's Sam's Club. The store manager hopes the success of Sparks' visit will lead to more authors coming to the store.
