Houston County's district attorney has identified three parents accused of giving false addresses so that children could attend the county's schools.
The three were named in two indictments, according to documents released by District Attorney Kelly Burke.
According to the indictments, they are:
- Terry O'Rear, who lives in Hawkinsville, but signed statements saying that he lived in Houston County, in the Warner Robins High School zone. He is charged with two counts of false statements and writings.
- Cliff Pulsifer and Tammy Pulsifer, who live in Fort Valley, but gave school officials documents that said they live in Houston County. Both are charged with one count of false statements and writings.
Burke says he expects more parents will be charged and that his investigation could lead to dozens of indictments.
He has said that hundreds of out-of-county students may be attending Houston schools, saying that could cost the county's taxpayers as much as $1 million a year.
