ATLANTA (AP) -- Spelman College will partner with the Department of Transportation to increase women's participation in the transportation industry.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is set to announce the partnership on Monday at the historically black women's college with Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin and U.S. Representative John Lewis.

The partnership supports the White House Council on Women and Girls, established earlier this year by President Barack Obama.

LaHood's visit to Spelman will cap a day of activities for the transportation secretary in Atlanta, where he will also address the city's transportation future.
