ATLANTA (AP) -- The Department of Watershed Management says raw sewage is no longer flowing into the Chattahoochee River after floodwaters were pumped out of a treatment center.
The department said Wednesday that it has restored function to the primary and tertiary treatment systems of the RM Clayton Water Reclamation Center.
Commissioner Rob Hunter praised plant personnel for their efforts and working around the clock since the river flooded the plant.
The plant is now receiving sewage flows and is being treated at about 70 percent of normal but the center still faces millions of dollars in repairs.
The department provides drinking water, wastewater collection and treatment services to more than one million people over a 650-square-mile area.
