Hancock and Twiggs county are without the swine flu vaccination, while 11 other Central Georgia Counties have small amounts, says Jennifer Jones with the North Georgia Health District.

Jones says the amount of the vaccines given out was based on population. The other counties in the district at Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Houston, Jasper, Jones, Monroe, Peach, Putnam, Washington, and Wilkinson.

Jones says those counties have anywhere between 100 to 1,000 doses of the vaccination, which they currently have in a mist form.

She says she expects more doses in at the end of the week or early next week.

According to Jones, the mist is targeted towards children ages 2 to 4.

"We're trying to target those most at risk and those most vulnerable So we're targeting the youngest of those who are eligible," she said, but others are considered in a priority group.

Those include children from 6 months to 24 years of age. People ages 24 to 64 with pre-existing health conditions like asthma or diabetes. People are caregivers for babies under 6 months, pregnant women and health care providers.

Bobbie Harris made a trip with the granddaughter to get seasonal flu shots Wednesday, but she also wanted to know more about the H1N1 vaccine.

"I can't take the idea that of she gettin sick and then you're having people die behind this flu and God know I don't know what I would do if she caught H1N1 and left me," she said.

While Harris says she is a bit nervous about the vaccine, she says if it will protect her and her family she's willing to consider it.

"To try and guard both of our lives, me to continue to take care of her and her to continue to living as healthy a life as she can," she said.

Jones suggests calling your local health department before trying to get a shot to make sure the vaccine is available. She also says the seasonal vaccine won't prevent H1N1, and the H1N1 vaccine won't protect against the seasonal flu.
