A Reynolds man is dead after an accident on the Flint River.

Macon County Coroner Grover Barfield says 64-year-old Clarence Wainwright and his son were trying to load a boat at a boat ramp between Montezuma and Oglethorpe around 8 p.m. Friday.

Barfield says the boat's motor wouldn't start, and Wainwright and his son were both standing near the back of the boat trying to crank it.

The back of the boat filled with water, and the boat capsized.

Wainwright's son managed to swim to shore, but Wainwright drowned.

Crews found his body around 10:30 p.m.

Barfield says an autopsy will be performed. He expects to have the results on Monday.
