Rain may cause minor flooding along the Ocmulgee River this week.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a flood warning for the Ocmulgee, expected to last from Tuesday night through Friday morning.

The weather service says the river's flood stage was at 7.8 feet at 10 a.m. Monday. Flood stage is 18 feet.

They predict the river will reach flood stage sometime Wednesday and hit 21 feet by Wednesday night. It should dip below flood stage again by Friday.

When flooding peaks, the weather service says, much of the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail between Second Street and the Otis Redding Bridge will be under water.

Agricultural areas north and south of Macon will also see flooding, and the weather service predicts that Monroe, Jones, Houston and Twiggs counties will be affected.
