Three men from Crawford and Peach counties are charged with the double-murder of an Upson County couple, an investigator says.
Capt. William Hosley says the charges stem from a Thursday-morning fire at the home of Michael and Dorothy Walker.
He said the fire was reported around 5 a.m. at 162 Parkview Road, in the Salem community, near Culloden.
The house was engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived, and investigators also found blood in the yard and evidence of an "armed confrontation," according to a GBI news release.
Human remains, believed to be those of the couple, were found inside the burned home. Michael Walker was 58 and his wife, 56, according to the GBI.
Crawford County Sheriff Lewis Walker said, the couple's car was later found in Crawford County.
Later on Thursday, Hosley said, the Upson sheriff's department arrested three men:
* Ronald Hart, 21, Musella; * Jeremy Saffold, 29, Byron; * And Octavius Hart, 32, Roberta
All three are being held in the Upson County jail on two counts of felony murder, two counts of malice murder, two counts of aggravated assault, armed robbery, arson first degree and theft by taking motor vehicle.
Hosley said the motive is still under investigation.
