
ATLANTA (AP) -- A Georgia man suspected in the death of a Spelman College student who was struck by a bullet while walking with friends has been formally charged with murder.
Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. announced the grand jury indictment of 21-year-old Devonni Benton on Friday.
The charges include felony murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and participation in criminal street gang activity.
19-year-old Jasmine Lynn was shot Sept. 3 on the Clark Atlanta University campus while walking home to her Spelman dormitory.
According to the preliminary investigation, a fight erupted between two groups of young men.
Benton is being held in the Fulton County Jail without bond.
