Man Accused of Trying to Break Into Elderly Woman's Home

Dodge County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Scott Ryan Harrington, 20, for burglary.

A news release says On Saturday morning around 5:30, Harrington allegedly entered the home of a 74-year-old woman's on Helena Dirt Road just inside Dodge County in an attempt to rob her. Harrington went in through a screened porch area. A burglar alarm sounded and apparently scared the would be robber off, according to the release.

The release says simultaneously friends of Harrington flagged down a McRae Police Officer and told the officer that Harrington was on the way to rob the senior citizen. Law Enforcement Officers from Dodge, Telfair, and Wheeler Counties searched that morning but were unable to locate Harrington.

According to the release, Harrington turned himself into the Telfair County Jail later Saturday. Dodge County Deputies picked up Harrington and charged him with burglary. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Deputies are conferring the District Attorney's Office for additional charges against Harrington.
