ATLANTA (AP) -- The attorney for a 21-year-old man accused of shooting and killing a Spelman College student said his client didn't pull the trigger, but he knows who did.
Attorney Jackie Patterson said Tuesday that Devonni Benton is innocent. Patterson said he's given the name and address of the man he believes shot 19-year-old Jasmine Lynn to the district attorney's office.
A spokeswoman for District Attorney Paul Howard did not immediately return a call for comment. Howard told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution "there is no doubt" that Benton killed Lynn.
Lynn was killed Sept. 3 by a stray bullet from a nearby fight as she walked on the Clark Atlanta University campus with friends. Benton is scheduled for a bond hearing in Fulton County Superior Court on Wednesday.
