A tractor-trailer truck carrying 20 one-ton bales of hay caught on fire in Baldwin County this afternoon.

Officer Brandon Barth of the Baldwin County Fire Department says it happened at the intersection of Highway 24 and the south end of Stembridge Road, near the Washington County line.

He said Baldwin's Fire Rescue Station 5 is using heavy equipment to remove the bales of hay from the trailer and spread out the hay in a nearby field so the fire can be put out.

He said Highway 24 was closed for about 45 minutes but is now reopened.

No one was injured.
