A 14-year-old girl is hospitalized with head injuries after she was hit while crossing the street near Mary Persons High School in Forsyth.

Allson Selman-Willis of the Monroe County sheriff's office says the driver was not at fault and will not be charged. The girl apparently entered a crosswalk before the crossing guard signaled that the road was cleared, she said.

She said it happened around 7:45 a.m. on Brooklyn Avenue near Mary Persons.

Selman-Willis would not release the girl's name but said she was taken by ambulance to the Medical Center of Central Georgia. She said the girl's condition was unknown.
