Fall is usually a great time to go fishing.
Bassmaster Classic veteran Tom Hamlin says since we've had so much rain, you may have to shift from your favorite place to some new real estate on the lake.
The fish are out of sorts because of the mud that's washed off the bank. Hamlin says even though it's called freshwater fishing, the gilled creatures don't like rainwater.
"The freshwater or the mud or whatever changes the ph and those fish just don't feel good," Hamlin explained. "So guess what you got to do? You've got to leave and go find something that hasn't been completely washed out with fresh water. So don't go up the creeks and things like that go up the coves on your lakes thats not getting a lot of runoff."
Hamlin is fishing in a state championship tournament next weekend out of Highlands Marina. Only the top two hundred fishermen in the state got an invitation. If he wins it all, the guy from Lizella could net thirty thousand bucks.
