Several people looking for a spooky Halloween treat hopped on a trolley this afternoon for a haunted ghost tour. The event comes as a part of the Historic Riverside Cemetery's "Spirits in October." Riders visited the cemetery and historic parts of downtown Macon. Actors and actresses played the parts of historic Macon figures. Sidney Lanier impersonator Marty Willett led the tour. He told Lanier's life story as a poet and musician, while highlighting other ghost-haunted areas in town. Those who dared to go on the tour said they got an experience like no other. "It really, really puts a human face on history. And they find it very engaging. That's what they really remember more than anything else, is seeing those spirits come to life," Conservancy Director, Suzanne Doonan said. The "Sidney's Hometown Haunts" began Wednesday and ended today. Funds from ticket sales benefit the Historic Riverside Cemetery Conservancy.
