Centerville's incumbent mayor has been defeated for re-election.

Final results show that John Harley beat Bubba Edwards, 406 votes to 293. That's 62 percent to 38 percent.

A 62- year-old retired airline pilot, Edwards took office in 2006. He defeated John Harley in that election.

63-year-old Harley is the former Centerville city administrator. He took the position after retiring from the Air Force. He says he stepped down from this position with the city in 2003 to care for his wife, when she was ill.

Harley now sells antiques at the Big Peach Antique Mall in Byron, at a store his son owns.
