Death can be hard to deal with, even for adults, but even more so when it comes to kids.
That's why each year, the Heart of Georgia Hospice takes a group of children to Camp Martha Johnston in Lizella. They call it Camp Wings. The kids, ages six to 16, have lost a loved one. They hope to help them deal with grief through fun activities like arts and crafts, horseback riding, outdoor games and good food.
They also get to talk with trained social workers. The camp wrapped up Sunday with a celebration service where parents came to see all the crafts that the kids made.
"Sometimes at home with the parents, they kind of protect the kids from going through the pain that is part of the grieving process. So camp allows them to go through it and learn from it and when they leave here hopefully they'll be able to cope better with it," said April Greenhoe with the camp.
This weekend marked the ninth annual Camp Wings and Greenhoe says the best part is getting the kids to have fun and laugh.
