People in Ellaville held a dedication ceremony for their new Blue Star Marker. That's a marker that can be placed along highways, in parks, government facilities and national cemeteries to honor past, present and future veterans.

Around the park where the marker will be placed are flags with the names of fallen war vets of Schley County.

The Rainbow Garden Club sponsored the event along with the American Legion.

"It's easy to forget and when you see the marker it reminds you. When you read the message that is on the marker, that freedom is not really free that in order for us to live the life that we live other people had to sacrifice," said Carlene Beckwith with the Rainbow Garden Club.

The Blue Star Marker was a little late arriving, but they hope to have it up within in a few weeks.
