Students at Georgia College & State University tried to set a world record Wednesday, but fell a bit short.
They tried to get into the Guinness Book of World Records for the biggest rock-paper-scissors game.
The record is 793. But student Anna Bryson said the student group running the game logged in 751 GCSU students -- 42 short.
The student newspaper, The Colonnade, organized the quest for the record, along with help from other students, faculty and staff. They say the largests tournament in record was achieved by 793 participants at Brigham Young University, in Provo City, Utah, on April 11, 2008.
Here's how the children's game works:
At the start of the tournament participants will partner up and begin to compete. Each game will consist of three plays (the best of three is the winner) for each play each player has the choice of three throws: rock, paper, or scissors.
How it works: Rock: wins against scissors, loses to paper and stalemates against itself. Paper: wins against rock, loses to scissors and stalemates against itself. Scissors: wins against paper, loses to rock and stalemates against itself.
The student group hasn't said whether they'll try again next year.
