It's old news by now that the FPD Vikings are moving to Class 'A' of the GHSA. That's next year. For now the Vikes are looking to move into the GISA State Football Semifinals.
After storming past Trinity 41-0 in their postseason opener the focus now turns to Defending Champ Deerfield. Greg Moore's guys beat the Knights 24-21 during their impressive 6-0 start.
"We got them once real good," senior fullback Nick Mullis said. "It was a tough game, but I think this time we're much more prepared for them and they better be ready for us."
Both squads have strong rushing attacks that fuel their high-scoring offenses. Both also play lockdown 'D'.
"They hvae a great team, they've had a great season and we have too," Moore said. "I'm proud of our kids and I'm proud of the way they've prepared during the course of the week."
Coach Moore says their week two win over the Knights doesn't mean much now in the second season, and that both teams look very different on tape than they did at that point in the year. He just hopes his team can do what they couldn't a year ago, and that's beat Deerfield on the playoff stage.
"They understand that's the defending state champions and we've got a lot of work to do to get ready to play," Moore said.
"We want our revenge on them," Mullis said.
The Vikings will visit the Knights Friday night in Albany. Winner moves on to the round of four.
