Two Macon men were sentenced to federal prison Friday in last December's robbery of a post office.

Vernon A. "Tigger" Reid was sentenced to 180 months, 15 years, without parole, for robbing the post office at 1040 Pio Nono Ave. on Dec. 5, 2008, according to the U.S. attorney's office.

An accomplice, Darius J. Flowers, was sentenced to 18 months without parole. Each man was also sentenced to supervised release after prison.

Reid entered the post office with a shotgun and demanded money from the employees. He got just over $6,000 in postal-service funds, the U.S. attorney's office says. He was accompanied by a second man with a handgun.

Flowers participated in the holdup by entering the post office and giving Reid information about who was there, the news release says.
