MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A video shows a Wisconsin prison guard tossing a powerful but nonlethal grenade inside an inmate's cell and then running away as the ensuing blast shakes the cell door.

The Wisconsin Department of Corrections released the video to The Associated Press, which had filed a lawsuit seeking a copy under the state's open records law.

AP requested the video after the state paid $49,000 to settle a lawsuit brought by the inmate, Raynard Jackson, who alleged the stinger grenade's detonation in his cell was excessive force.

Jackson's case marks the only time a stinger grenade has been used inside a Wisconsin inmate's cell.
