NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Radio play was the key for hip-hop music to grow into the global juggernaut it is today.
But artists who make Christian, or "holy" hip-hop say it's a struggle to get their music on the air waves on either secular or gospel stations.
So some artists and producers are trying to drum up interest in the genre by hitting all formats.
Alabama-based Xist Worldwide Record Label hopes its various projects, like a film, reality TV show and even a gospel cruise will help drum up awareness of the music they make.
Company co-founder Terverius Black says they're trying to create their own blueprint to find success in gospel music.
