The start of the proposed construction project along Interstate 75 between Pierce Avenue and Arkwright Road has been delayed.
Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Crystal Paulk Buchanan says the project will likely start in the spring.
Buchanan says the department is concentrating on projects funded by federal stimulus money because those projects have a February deadline.
Earlier this year, the department unveiled a plan that included widening the interstate to six lanes from south of Pierce Avenue to north of Arkwright Road and redoing the exit ramps in the area.
The Georgia DOT says they held public meetings in 2000 to discuss the project, and presented the final plan in 2005.
