A 7-year-old boy injured in a deadly fire Monday returns home from the hospital today.
Crews airlifted Ricardo Barron, 7, to the Augusta Burn Center, where he had been in critical condition. Now, the boy's grandmother, Amanda Pearson, says Barron is walking around and doing well.
The fire broke out at the boy's home on Carlisle Street in Macon around 2 a.m. Monday. It claimed the lives of Barron's two sisters, Zanesia Hollis, 12, and Mekala Barron, 4.
Pearson says Barron is traveling from Augusta with his parents and they're expected back in Macon sometime today.
Captain Tom Musselwhite, Macon-Bibb Fire Department, says a small space heater caused the fire that started in a rear bedroom of the family's home. He says he doesn't know if there were working smoke detectors in the home.
