Evangelical Liberty Christian Church celebrated their community on Saturday.
Project Unity sponsored the party, as a kick off for their clean up effort to beautify the Houston Avenue area. The party was a way for people in the area to meet public servants like police and firemen and workers from the Red Cross.
People attending played basketball, ate free food and were able to get free health screenings.
"In this community right here, we have seen high crime rates in the past. We have seen a lot of drug activity, a lot of prostitution and want a better quality of life for a neighborhood for our kids," said Pastor Lisa Watson.
"It tells the folks here there are some people that do care, that are going to try to assist them in getting things done," said Alton Attaway with Project Unity.
