A Lizella teenager accused of shooting a man outside a west Bibb gas station now faces murder charges.
Bibb County assistant district attorney Gary Wood says a grand jury on Tuesday indicted 17-year-old Javone Taylor on charges of felony murder and two other charges.
He's accused of killing Jaymal Patel of Sandersville at the RaceWay on Mercer University Drive on Sept. 4.
The Bibb County sheriff's department says a friend dropped off Patel, whose brother works at the RaceWay, so that he could get a ride home. The business had just closed.
They say Taylor approached Patel from one of the gas pumps, showed a silver gun and demanded that Patel give him money, the news release says. He gave Taylor his wallet, which was empty, and he demanded money again. Then he shot twice, hitting Patel once in the upper arm and again in the head. Then he ran toward Mercer University Drive.
Taylor's being held without bond in the Bibb County jail. No trial date has been set.
