Three Macon-Bibb deputies sworn in

The Macon-Bibb Sheriff's Office has three new deputies to help sniff out crime.

Kenzo, Nala, and Athena were sworn in Tuesday as the department's newest members.

Athena is a bomb-sniffing dog. Kenzo and Nala search for drugs.

Athena's handler, Kevin Irwin, says she's more than just a pet.

"With her and our other bomb dog, they play massive roles especially the way terrorism is today. Having a dog that can find explosives is huge," said Irwin.

All three dogs are around two years old and have a service life of 7 years.
