Town hall meeting for Warner Robins park improvements

Warner Robins park renovations

Tuesday night, the Warner Robins Director of Recreation, Jarred Reneau, held a town hall meeting to ask members of the Delores Toliver Park community what improvements they would like to see at their neighborhood park.

The town hall meeting comes after last weeks Warner Robins City Council meeting when the council agreed to move $2.5 million in reserve funds to the recreation department.

According to Reneau, with that funding the Recreation Department now has just under $4 million to spend on renovations at about 15 parks across the city.

Members of the Delores Toliver Park community discussed improvements they would like to see to sports fields and playground equipment.

Nearly everyone at Tuesday night's meeting agreed that the Boys and Girls Club building that sits in the middle of the park needs the most renovation.

"I think they were pretty clear tonight that the main thing that they want first and foremost is that they just want this building to be bigger," says Reneau.

Reneau says he plans to meet with community leaders and the President of the Boys and Girls Club to start designing a new building that will hold more kids.

"It will give them a place to call their own," says Reneau.

He plans to meet with each Warner Robins City Council member to discuss what needs to be done at the parks within their districts, and says this was the first of several town hall style meetings.
