Traffic delays along I-16 as coastal counties begin to evacuate

MACON - Hurricane Matthew is slowly moving closer to the coast of the United States and coastal counties in Georgia are beginning to evacuate.

Although the storm is expected to stay along the coast, Central Georgians will be still be impacted.

The greatest impact will be seen as evacuees travel through the area along I-16. According to a map on the Georgia Department of Transportation website, traffic on I-16 westbound is moving as slow as 6 miles per hour in some areas.
