The UGA Extension office in Twiggs County hosted its first ever Farm and Family Day on Saturday afternoon.
Participants visited several farms throughout the county, including a peanut farm.
In the afternoon, the fun continued on Railroad Street in Jeffersonville with performances, animals and other vendors.
Brandon Crumsey organized the event and says days like this bring the community together and teach about the importance of agriculture.
"People need to know where their food comes from and how out clothes are made, where it comes from," said Crumsey. "Twiggs County has a lot of cotton growing, so people probably pass by and they don’t even know what that is. I just want to bring more awareness to the agriculture in our community."
Crumsey says they were impressed with today's turnout for this first year, and they plan to do it again next fall.
