Twiggs County High School football Coach Zach Harris was among those injured Sunday in an accident on Hwy 49.
He was one of six people injured in the wreck, according to Tina Thames, assistant to the Twiggs County superintendent.
Two other people died in the accident that occurred at about 8 p.m.
Sharon Holsey Jackson, 47, of Milledgeville, was killed, along with her passenger, Kalvin Thomas, age 48, of Macon.
Holsey was driving in a Nissan Sentra, according to a news release from GSP.
Harris and five other family members were in a GMC Yukon. The driver of the truck was Dequarius T. Jones, 17. Other passengers were Adrienne Harris, 40, Quadarius Jones, 17, Vernell Harris Jr., 13, and Madison Harris.9
According to GSP, the crash occurred when the driver of the Yukon failed to maintain his lane and crossed over the centerline into the path of the Nissan Sentra.
"At this time it is believed that the driver of the Yukon was fatigued and dozed off causing him to leave his lane of travel. This crash is still under investigation by the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT). Charges are pending," the news release states.
