Two people shot during attempted armed robbery in Macon

MACON - Two people are recovering after a man shot them during an attempted armed robbery outside of their Macon home.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office says the shooting happened just before 9 p.m. Friday afternoon in the 600 block of Villa Crest Avenue. 

Deputies say 39-year-old Derrick Moye was outside of his home when a man approached him demanding his wallet. That's when police say the two got into an argument. During the altercation, the man then shot Moye in the stomach. Moye's mother, 65-year-old Mamie Moye, then walked outside of the home after hearing the argument. The suspect then allegedly shot her in the arm and stomach.

Both victims were taken to the Navicent Health Medical Center for treatment. Derrick Moye is listed in critical but stable condition. Mamie Moye is listed in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a man about 6 feet tall and weighting 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and dark pants.
