The police chase that ended in a woman being ejected from her vehicle on I-75 north near Georgia 49 Thursday afternoon was initiated by Perry Police after a Perry business called 911, according to Sgt. Robbie Robertson with Georgia State Patrol.
Robertson said that Perry Police attempted to pull over a Ford Excursion, but the Excursion refused to stop leading police to pursue the vehicle.
GSP was then called in to assist on the chase.
A GSP trooper used a precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver, which led the SUV to exit the right side of the interstate, hit a guardrail, roll and eject the driver before landing upright on its tires.
The driver was taken to the Medical Center Navicent Health, where she later died. The name of the driver killed is Pamela Theobold, 45, of Swainsboro.
Perry Police have not yet returned 13WMAZ's call to confirm the reason for the initiation of the chase.
Robertson said the incident is still under investigation.
