UPDATE: Baldwin County Capt. Brad King says Asia Macklin was found dead from a gunshot wound.
"There is nothing on Earth that bad," King told WMAZ on Friday. "I said on a number of occasions that this certainly had my attention and I was afraid that we would have an outcome similar to this."
He wouldn't say where on her body she was shot or how many times.
Macklin went missing on Saturday. Thursday, her mother told WMAZ that her disappearance was not normal and she was afraid that her daughter was in grave danger.
According to King, Macklin was last seen by her boyfriend and her little brother, until Friday afternoon around 12:30 p.m. when a resident of Browns Crossing Road spotted a car that looked like Macklin's near his property.
"I believe that he observed the vehicle several days ago. He said that he thought it was a hunter, which is common for this area of the county. Today, he was discussing news stories and things like that and he recalled seeing that blue car and he and his friends went back and actually located it," says King.
King says a gun was found in her car and her cell phone was on the dashboard.
"We powered up her phone and it has not had activity since last Saturday morning. It still had 88 percent battery life, so it appears she powered down the phone on," says King.
The case is being investigated as a homicide until proven otherwise, King said.
Baldwin County Sheriff's Office Capt. Brad King says missing 20-year-old woman Asia Macklin was found dead Friday.
He says she was found around 12:30 p.m. in a remote location off Brown's Crossing Road in her car in Milledgeville. He says she was found by a neighbor in the area, but King says she was not in a car wreck.
King says they are investigating her death and examining the evidence. He says her body has been turned over to the coroner and will go to the GBI for an autopsy on Monday.
