Warner Robins fire chief to retire

After 17 years, the fire chief for the City of Warner Robins says he's hanging up his uniform.

Fire Chief Robert Singletary will retire on Sunday, according to Mayor Randy Toms.

Robert Singletary began serving as the fire chief in 1999 and will retire on September 11.

The City Council will vote to approve a new chief at Tuesday night's council meeting.

The mayor's office also says the new chief will come from inside the department.

Also at Tuesday's meeting, Mayor Toms and the council will discuss putting in new sidewalks and street lights on Cohen Walker Drive near the newly opened Freedom Field.
