Warner Robins officer celebrates one month since kidney transplant

One month since Officer's kidney surgery

You may remember back in April we shared the story of a Warner Robins officer in need of a kidney.

Sgt. Porter Woods served with the Warner Robins police department for 26 years – 21 of those were spent working in Houston County Schools with drug awareness programs.

In May, one of his former students and fellow city employee Trey Ammons agreed to donate.

Well, they went up to Atlanta for surgery and we are happy to report that it's been a month and they are both doing great.

She says her husband is now feeling better than ever.

She says Porter hopes this story will inspire more people to get tested to be donors because they have met so many people in desperate need of transplants along their journey.

Porter plans on returning to work in the next few months.
