Houston County's school board has named their choice to be their next school superintendent.
He's Mark Scott, former principal at Northside High School and currently the assistant superintendent for human resources.
But it's not official until the district negotiates a contract with Scott. The board votes again on April 8.
Last Friday, they interviewed Scott and a second candidate, whose name was not released.
Afterward, they voted to pick Scott.
Scott, a Milledgeville native, spent some of his career working in Baldwin County, when he transitioned over to Houston County's Northside High School, where he worked as principal before working at the board office.
This would be the second consecutive Northside High School employee selected as superintendent, as current Superintendent Robin Hines joined the board office after also working at Northside High.
