Weekly I-16 / I-75 Interchange Update (8/22)

I-16, I-75 interchange update (August 22)

Progress is still underway on the I-16 / I-75 interchange project.

Contractors are building barrier walls along the interstate and will tear down a bridge this week.

Kimberly Larson with the Department of Transportation says crews have their hands full with construction.

Most of the changes you'll see will be focused on the interchange itself.

This week, we're taking a closer look at I-75N. The plan is to add more travel lanes, shift the entrance and exit ramps, and add a new ramp.

NOW

Larson says starting Tuesday, August 22, you'll see crews setting up a barrier wall on the interchange from I-16W to I-75N from mile marker 164 to 165.

On Wednesday, crews will start placing concrete on the pedestrian culvert near First Avenue -- that's east of I-75.

COMING UP

At the end of the work week, crews will tear down the James Brown Memorial Bridge on Walnut Street.
