West Macon house fire believed to be arson

Macon-Bibb firefighters put out a house fire Saturday afternoon in west Macon.

According to Battalion Chief Jeff Sanders, the call came in around 2:45 p.m. Saturday for a house fire on Fairburn Avenue.

He says no one was injured because the house and freestanding garage were vacant.

He also says it is believed to be arson because neither structure had electricity, so there was no other way for the fire to start.

It took crews about 10 minutes to put the fire out.
