Drivers saw a strange sight on Macon's Riverside Drive Tuesday: a woman pushing a small covered wagon with American flags blowing in the wind.
She says she's on a trek of almost 300 miles from Savannah to Atlanta to fight child abuse.
Rachel Milano was friendly and in high spirits Tuesday even while pushing the heavy wagon amid temperatures in the high 80s.
Her goal is to finance her non-profit organization and open a center in Savannah for abuse victims, to offer counseling and give them a place to turn.
There have been trials along the way as she's traveled on U.S. highways 80 and 441: The wagon has lost a brake and a rear-view mirror.
They are small in comparison to the trials she went through as a child when she says she was abused.
She continues to press on, logging her journey with a sheet taped to the back of her wagon. Praying hands placed at the helm of the wagon guide her way.
But if you're in the market for a wagon, Rachel says she plans to auction this one off and use it as seed money to open the center.
Rachel relies on the help of strangers. While being interviewed one walks up and hands her a cool drink, which she gladly gulps down as she wipes the sweat of her face.
"Atlanta, here I come. Closing in, closing in," she says as she merges back into noon traffic on Riverside.
