Georgia Adjutant General visits GMC parade

Military precision was on parade this afternoon, as Georgia Military College held its annual Military Honors ceremony.

Major General Jim Butterworth, adjutant general of the Georgia National Guard was there to honor cadets for their achievement.

Dozens of cadets lined up to honor their peers as the major general presented pins and medals.

And Butterworth had a few words of wisdom for the young recruits.

"Remember there are two things on that uniform that represent you and the organization," he said, "Your last name. Remember that you're family is depending on you, the freedom of a nation is depending on you. And on other side of that uniform is the name of the mightiest fighting force ever to be known on the face of the earth: The United States Military."

Major General Butterworth reports directly to the Governor.

He has responsibility for almost fifteen thousand people under the Georgia Department of Defense.
