Engineer's group to grade Georgia infrastructure

ATLANTA (AP) - The Georgia section of the American Society of Civil Engineers is planning to release a report card next week grading the state's infrastructure.

Officials say the 2014 Report Card for Georgia's Infrastructure being released on Monday will evaluate the state's bridges, roads, dams, drinking water, energy, solid waste systems and more.

Officials say the report card is intended to promote lasting growth in the state and offer solutions to infrastructure issues.

Officials are planning to meet at South Wing of the Capitol Building. Speakers are expected to include Republican state Rep. Ed Setzler of Acworth, and President of the Georgia section of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Kat Gurd.
