Report: George W. Bush has knee replaced

Former President George W. Bush had knee replacement surgery this weekend in Chicago, NBC News reports.

Bush, 67, underwent the outpatient procedure at Rush University Medical Center's Midwest Orthopaedics on Saturday, multiple sources told the Chicago network affiliate. He stayed at a hotel and returned home to Dallas on Monday.

Bush is an active man and regularly rides his bike. Earlier this month, he led a grueling bike ride at his Prairie Chapel Ranch near Crawford, Texas, to honor service members wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Last August, the 43rd president had a stent placed in his heart after it was discovered he had a blocked artery.

A call to Bush's office in Dallas was not immediately returned.
