LONDON - American Nathan Adrian won gold in the men's 100-meter freestyle Wednesday at the London Games.
Adrian finished in 47.52 seconds, beating the reigning world champ, Australia's James Magnussen by .01 seconds.
Canada's Brent Hayden won bronze in 47.80.
Adrian is the first American to win gold in the event since Matt Biondi in 1988.
