Michelle Nunn campaigns in Warner Robins

US Senatorial candidate Michelle Nunn is on a statewide tour to discuss issues with veterans, non-profit organizations, and business leaders.

This afternoon, Nunn, accompanied by her father, former US senator Sam Nunn, met with the 21st Century Partnership in Warner Robins.

Afterward, she discussed campaign issues including recent allegations that she was not a true Georgian.

"I am a ninth-generation Georgian. I have a grandfather who was the mayor of Perry, and a farmer, a farm that we still have," Nunn said, "I have parents who obviously have been a part of this community for many years. And I have 25 years of service here in the state. So, I think my Georgia heritage pretty much speaks for itself."

She also responded to suggestions that Points of Light, an organization she oversees, indirectly contributed to terrorists including Hamas.

"It's everything that people are tired about politics," Nunn explained, "So, it's really preposterous and ridiculous to think that an organization founded by a former president, one of the most respected non-profits in the country, has been giving grants to terrorist organizations."

If elected, Nunn says she wants to serve on the Senate Armed Services Committee, the same committee her father, Sam Nunn, chaired.
