Watch: Boy, 8, makes special touchdown for sick mother

WHITEHALL, MICH. - It was a special moment for one family during a youth football game this past weekend: two teams putting their rivalry aside to allow an 8-year-old boy to shine.

"We first heard about the situation at Jonah's house by the second practice," says Scott Manzo, the head coach.

Jonah Rabadi, 8, plays football for the Whitehall Little Vikings. His mother is sick and unable to come to the games.

"She had never seen him play football before and that's where it came from, she wanted a lot of pictures of him playing," Manzo said.

But his coach decided to do more even though Jonah's mom could not attend his game Saturday, Sept. 17. He arranged a special play during halftime of the game against Montague, where Jonah scored a touchdown.

"We all go through tragedy in life, but he's 8 years old, you're not suppose to go through that -- so it's pretty hard but to see them really care and really want to support him to me that's the most important thing," Manzo said.

Manzo created DVDs of the play for the family. He says that Jonah's mother loved it and has watched the play several times.
